Nikki Chooi with Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra

2014_winners_tour_banner_apo

2013 Michael Hill International Violin Competition winner Nikki Chooi stars in a programme of musical landscapes, from Scotland to New Zealand, and from Schumann to Webern.

Bruch is renowned for the emotional depth of his violin writing, and the Scottish Fantasy is no exception.  It is a rapturous work, and perfect for displaying Nikki Chooi’s beautiful playing.

The concert also features a new work by New Zealander  Ross Harris, who was inspired to write this latest composition for the APO’s Principal Viola Robert Ashworth.

Italian conductor Giordano Bellincampi makes a welcome return to the APO to conduct this vibrant concert.
